Democracia y profundidad de los compromisos adquiridos en acuerdos de libre comercio (1948-2020)

En el presente artículo se evaluó el impacto que tiene la democracia de las partes concurrentes en un acuerdo de libre comercio con la profundidad de los compromisos adquiridos en el marco de los respectivos tratados. Este argumento se revisó por medio de la evaluación de variables que dieran cuenta de argumentos basados en tradiciones liberales de las relaciones internacionales, específicamente la democracia, aplicados a los vínculos alcanzados en acuerdos de libre comercio. Si bien los resultados confirmarían estas respectivas argumentaciones, la mayor relevancia para dar cuenta de una mayor profundización de los vínculos comerciales corresponde a factores contextuales, como lo fueron las décadas de 1990 y 2000. En la realización de la presente investigación se utilizó información actualizada sobre 692 acuerdos de libre comercio firmados entre 1948 y 2020, empleándose regresiones lineales con ajuste de estructura multinivel.
