The aim of this study is based on to make a review about the work of Sigmund Freud and the place that he gives to the body in his theory. He starts his first works talking about Hysteria, and later includes new concepts like neurasthenia, anxiety neurosis and hypochondria, all these associated with a somatic overexcitation. At the same time, this study invites to remember which Freud’s position as analyst was, especially about the somatic phenomena that don’t have a direct correlation in the psychic and the mechanisms involved in such animic dynamism.
