Collective Participation as Mental Health: Questions and Alternatives to Policies in Mental Health in Chile

Abstract

This paper problematize the current state of Mental Health in Chile, emphasizing the course of policies in this area, as well as the main models on which their intervention programs have been built. The legitimized individualizing perspective of Mental Health problematics is questioned in favor of social and psychosocial compressions, attached to the local context of each territorial enclave. Finally, some elements of the Social Systems Theory are outlined, which demonstrate yield for the understanding of possible alternatives for policies in Mental Health.
