Patient monitoring program external psychotic mental health service H.I.G.A. Evita Lanús. Provisional results.
Abstract
The Phone Monitoring Program for psychotic outpatients run by the Mental Health Service at the H.I.G.A. Evita of Lanús derives from a study of the epidemiologic clinical profile developed in said inpatient wards. This previous study shows that 60% of the inpatients are admitted for psychotic decompensation, and when testing the level of occupation at the moment of admission, a statistically significant difference is showed in correlation with presenting more global problems of occupational performance (unemployment and disocupation) regarding to those admitted for other inpatient psychotic admissions, and with presenting more severity according to the type and extent of the registered disocupation (labour, educational, leisure time, difficulties with involving and developing AVDV and AVDI, and serious restrictions in social participation). In view of the obtained results of this profile, we decided to initiate the Phone Monitoring Program aimed at this group of patients in order to register the adherence and continuity of the treatment, keep record of the level of occupational performance in accordance with the discharge project and identification of the difficulties and obstacles for achieving the above mentioned objectives.
At present, the program is in the data compilation and analysis stage where the temporary results are not very encouraging and anticipate the need to initiate relevant actions in order to deal with this problem.
