Dance is a discipline that demands high physical and mental performance, dancers face significant risks of injuries and health issues. In Chile, 27.4% of dancers have experienced health problems related to their profession, including both physical injuries and mental health issues. Economic and job insecurity exacerbates these conditions, as many dancers lack adequate access to healthcare and social security. This article reviews the health conditions and common injuries in dancers, as well as their working conditions and their impact on mental health. It also analyzes protection policies in other countries, such as Canada and France, and proposes recommendations to improve the situation in Chile, including the training of healthcare professionals, labor regulation, and access to specialized mental health services.
